By weighing my baby before and after nursing, Christy came to the conclusion my baby was not able to get enough milk out- even though I had enough milk my breast. She was not ready to be a fully breast fed baby. To aid me in my goal of giving my baby breast milk, Christy taught me how to pump milk while feeding my baby from a bottle. This was the biggest help to me! This allowed me to increase my milk supply. Although my baby was not ready to nurse from me directly, I was very grateful to still have a way to feed her breast milk. I didn’t know this was even an option before Christy told me.
I also experience nipple aversion/aggravation. I felt alone, confused, self conscious, and somewhat guilty about it. She assured me I was not alone, and pointed me to a support page with a community of women who knew how I felt. She took away the unknown and educated me on what I was experiencing. This gave me peace of mind and provided the help I needed.
She showed me a new position to nurse in that did not hurt my sore nipples. She helped me increase my milk supply and even after our visits, she ALWAYS responded to my questions and concerns. I loved how she did not push breastfeeding on me. She simply supported me in my breastfeeding goals. She didn’t guilt trip me when I fell short. She was constantly encouraging me. I could NOT have had a better experience having Christy as my Lactation consultant!
